STEELFIXING – ONE-DAY NVQ LEVEL 2 ROUTE

NOCN-Cskills Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Steelfixing (Construction)

This One-Day route allows the experienced Steelfixer to achieve their Level 2 NVQ, in just one day. This assessment method combines the use of witness testimonies, employer endorsement, practical assessment, professional discussion and questions and answers. This method is suitable for experienced applicants only, who will undergo profiling to identify they have adequate experience and no training needs.

This route is fully endorsed by the NOCN Group and we as a Training Provider and Centre have had this route fully audited, approved and accredited by an NOCN External Quality Assurance officer.

We at *CTAC Skills take the responsibility of certifying/qualifying any learner very seriously and therefore, will not pass anyone whom does NOT pass all the stringent marking processes and procedures that have been set by NOCN, and as a very experienced steelfixer and NOCN approved End Point Assessor and NVQ Assessor, I personally (Tim Byrne) oversee the whole process from Profiling to the Practical assessment, to ensure only all learners are of the high standard expected to achieve certification.

Course Requirements

This route is for the experienced Steelfixer only, who can read rebar construction drawings and fix a steel reinforcement structure, as per the drawing, to exacting requirements.

The criteria for all learners include:

being site experienced in all the stated skills of the qualification they wish to achieve

must be able to construct 1 of steel reinforcement structure from a rebar construction drawing (in the form of a Practical Assessment at our Training Centre) and be able to prove their competency as a Steelfixer
having sufficient experience of the skills of the qualification, so that planning their working day, problem solving and decision making and working to deadlines (regarding their craft skill) are a usual day-to-day activity
an ability to cope with the demands of an intensive practical assessment process
an ability to work safely at all times
an ability to discuss their work activities with others

It is designed to test the practical competence and underpinning knowledge of learners across the full range of competencies in reduced time compared to that of the traditional on-site assessment, training, and portfolio building.

If you do not have the full experience required for the one day route, we offer the OSAT route. The online portfolio route here we can visit you on site to obtain the evidence required or you can submit all your evidence through an online portfolio portal at your own pace to be assessed by one of our experienced assessors.
