This route is for the experienced Bricklayer only.

The criteria for all learners include:

• being site experienced in all the stated skills of the qualification they wish to achieve
• must be able to construct 2 no. brickwork structures from a construction drawing (in the form of a Practical Assessment at our Training Centre) and be able to prove their competency as a Bricklayer
• having sufficient experience of the skills of the qualification, so that planning their working day, problem solving and decision making and working to deadlines (regarding their craft skill) are a usual day-to-day activity
• an ability to cope with the demands of an intensive practical assessment process
• an ability to work safely at all times
• an ability to discuss their work activities with others

It is designed to test the practical competence and underpinning knowledge of learners across the full range of competencies in reduced time compared to that of the traditional on-site assessment, training, and portfolio building.

This assessment method combines the use of witness testimonies, employer endorsement, practical assessment, professional discussion and questions and answers. This method is suitable for experienced applicants only, who will undergo profiling to identify they have adequate experience and no training needs.
